FACE BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS
Upper face lift surgeries are operations performed under general anesthesia and last
approximately 3 hours. During this operation, which can be applied to young and old patients, the
weak, sunken and sagging parts of the forehead, eyebrow and cheekbones are corrected by entering
from inside the scalp above the ear. The aim of the surgery is to move the eyebrow line and outer
corner of the eye higher, and to fill the cheekbone area secondarily to achieve a younger appearance.
In the surgery, the muscles and surrounding tissues around the eyes are dissected and fixed to their
new positions by proceeding under the skin. The skin remaining on the muscle layer is stretched
upwards and outwards and excess tissues are removed. After the surgery, the dressing is done with
pressure bandages and the patient is taken to his/her room. The patient can be discharged on the
same day. Head elevation and follow-up with pressure bandages, healthy nutrition and not smoking
are of great importance for the first week after the surgery
🧠 What Does the Temple Lift Target?
- Drooping outer brows (lateral brow ptosis)
- Hooded upper eyelids
- Fine lines and sagging in the temple region
- “Tired” or “angry” appearance due to brow descent
- Early aging signs around the upper face
🧬 Who Is a Good Candidate?
You may benefit from a temple lift if you:
- Are in your 30s to 50s with mild to moderate sagging around the outer brow/temple area
- Have asymmetry or flattening of the brow arch
- Want a refreshed, lifted look around the eyes without an invasive full brow lift
- Are in good overall health, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations
🛠️ Surgical Technique
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia with or without sedation (can also be performed under general anesthesia).
- Incision Location: A small incision is made behind or within the hairline at the temples.
- Procedure:
- Skin and underlying tissues of the temple and lateral brow are gently lifted and repositioned.
- In some cases, small sutures or endoscopic instruments are used for precision.
- The incision is closed with fine sutures and hidden within the hair-bearing scalp.
- Duration: Usually 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on technique and whether combined with other procedures.
⏳ Recovery Timeline
- 1–2 Days: Mild swelling, bruising, and tightness in the temples or forehead area.
- 5–7 Days: Most patients can return to work or social activities.
- 7–10 Days: Stitches removed (if non-dissolvable).
- 2–3 Weeks: Bruising and swelling generally subside.
- Final Results: Visible after 3–6 weeks; continues to improve over 2–3 months.
🧴 Aftercare Tips
- Sleep with head elevated for 5–7 days
- Avoid strenuous activities for at least 2 weeks
- Ice compresses in the first 48 hours can help reduce swelling
- Avoid alcohol, smoking, and blood-thinning supplements as instructed by your surgeon
⚠️ Risks and Side Effects
Although generally safe, potential risks include:
- Swelling, bruising, or numbness (usually temporary)
- Scarring (minimal and hidden in hairline)
- Asymmetry or overcorrection
- Hair loss around incision site (rare)
- Infection or bleeding
